Why BUGSAY?

Bugsay is one memorable word for every member of Batch 99 in Pisay-EVC. Bugsay literally means "paddle" or "row" and for us it means so much more than that.

High school is the breeding ground of evil. This is when most people try or learn how to drink, smoke, use drugs and even engage in sexual activities. Well it wasn't that bad for us..

Everything started with a nice and fun vacation to the resort of our classmate. As youngsters, we did a lot of activities including boating, a little bit of hiking and island hopping. We had so much fun simply because we were together enjoying nature's wonders and away from our parents.

Since the first outing was a success it was followed the year after with more people joining this time. Of course we had more fun because we were bigger in number and crazier ideas and things comes up. We even walked to a baryo disco and had our first taste of alcohol. It wasn't much alcohol so we went back to the resort all feeling fine. And so we decided to continue the drinking spree until some of us became drunk.

When summer was over and we had to go back to school, our bond has never been a strong. We kinda decided to keep the drinking spree a secret and that's when the word "bugsay" became infamous to our batch. Well since we were introduced to drinking it became a part of all our activities but this time it was now called bugsay.

Going to that resort had been a yearly activity for us until we graduated. Perhaps the most memorable event that happened in that resort was when the "bangka" of our colleagues toppled and all of them fell off the boat. At that instant I was able to witness just how people can do crazy things during desperate moments. The meanest boy in our batch was the one practically screaming for aid from his brother who was never there. And one was making sure her camera wasn't gonna be wet even if that means that she has to be submerged under water...crazy..

We learned a lot with those experiences...Independence is one thing but more important is the realization that you have friends who will be there for you in good times and bad times...
